Chapter History
The Ardmore Chapter, NSDAR, was organized on May 21, 1921. Lettie Gertrude Whitaker Brett (Mrs. Rutherford Brett) was the organizing regent, and there were twenty-six charter members at that time. The chapter has grown from fifty members in 2000 to the current membership of one hundred fifty. Throughout its history the chapter has supported the high ideals of our national motto “God, Home, and Country” and actively promotes the NSDAR objectives of historic preservation, patriotism, and education. |

The name “Ardmore” was adopted for the name of the chapter, after the major city of Ardmore, Pennsylvania, that was on the main line of the Pennsylvania Railroad.
Members of the Ardmore Chapter, NSDAR, live in several states and a wide area of southern Oklahoma. Centered along I-35 and located midway between the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas metropolitan area and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the area is attractive for new residents and active, participating DAR members. Generally, meetings are held on the first Thursday of the months of January through May and September through December.
Several regents have led the chapter through the years. Honorary Chapter Regents - Diane Hamill, Pat Jurey, Vicki Luster, Donna Netters, Helen Cargile, DeMaurice Barber, Nell Truitt, Lorna Holloway, Carole Martin, Dana Boyd and Royce Groeschel have provided valued guidance and support to the chapter.
In Sunday editions of the local Ardmoreite newspaper, a news article with photo describes chapter activities, awards presented, and community and classroom involvement. We CELEBRATE AMERICA! Check out our Spirit page for details.
