Historical Markers and Preservation Activities
On the 12th of October 1930, the Ardmore Chapter, NSDAR, placed an historical marker on the site of Fort Arbuckle, which is located seven miles west of Davis, Oklahoma. The chapter rededicated the marker in 2000. Ardmore Chapter, NSDAR, in partnership with the Ardmore Main Street Authority, documented and photographed the entire Ardmore Historic District, published the book, and presented it to the City of Ardmore. A Memorial Oak Tree was planted at the Greater Southwest Historic Museum Heritage Park to honor chapter member's Revolutionary War patriots. Each member donated to this event, and the dedication was held in March 2010. A book, listing the patriots and name of member donor, was presented to the Museum Library. In 2011, the old Pruitt Cemetery was rededicated with a new flag pole and flag on Gene Autry Road. Several NSDAR Insignia bronze grave markers have been placed by Ardmore Chapter, NSDAR. |
