Honoring Ardmore Chapter's Patriots
DAR recognizes its members’ ancestors who were patriots. These men and women lived in the original thirteen colonies and fought or supported the fight for independence from the British. The United States of America became a sovereign nation with the victory over the British in 1781.
These patriots came from diverse backgrounds and were steadfast in their pursuit of the ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,
that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,
that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
